The administrative staff provides support to the Legal Officer and the Commissioners on administrative matters relating to applications and appeals. This includes registering all cases; issuing appropriate documentation to the parties; obtaining the necessary papers (including appeal tribunal papers); and any other matters relating to the progressing of individual cases (for example, issuing of directions and ultimately decisions). This involves contact with the Tribunal Service (TS) in Glasgow, the ACI (Adjudication and Constitutional Issues) Division of the Department of Work and Pensions in Leeds, HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC), the Ministry of Defence (MoD), the Veterans’ Agency, Local Authorities and The Commissioners’ Office in London.
The Justice Department of the Scottish Executive is responsible for the administration of the Edinburgh office. The funding for the running costs of the office is provided by the Judicial Appointments and Finance Division at Hayweight House, Lauriston Street, Edinburgh.
